Very Fine. Skillfully executed "bokashi" shading throughout print; light
"gauffrage" (embossing) to windsock and buildings; lightly visible woodgrain
in sky; baren "sujizuri" tracings to street area; crisp key-lines, highly
detailed carving. |
| Condition |
Excellent. Excellent colors. Clean front and verso.
(No flaws noted.) |

Narazaki #489; Hotei #508. |
| Comments |
Beautiful rural streetscene-- "carp windsocks" are flown throughout Japan
on May 5th in celebration of "Boy's Day."
Reissued in 2007-2009 by Watanabe using their original woodblocks from 1948.
Other such recently reissued Hasui prints are discussed in
"June 2002 - Five Additional Hasui Prints
Re-issued by Watanabe."
