| Impression |
Very Good. Skillfully executed "bokashi" shading to sky and water areas; nicely visible "woodgrain"
to sky and water; highly detailed carving. |
| Condition |
Fair to Good. Quite good colors. (Scattered light spotting; light toning; wear/damages to margins;
thin paper remnants upper verso margin. Blue coloring added to outer "notched" corners.) |
| Reference/Illus |
"Hiroshige--Brooklyn Museum" pl#46. |
| Comments |
Mt. Sakura is a well-known (and still active) volcano of southern Japan. "60-Odd Provinces" is
considered to be technically Hiroshige's finest series. Unique visible "woodgrain" pattern confirms
printing done via original blocks.
(See related article #4: on authentication of prints.
See "matted view" (15 x 19 3/4 matting included if desired). |
