Impression Very Fine.
Superbly executed "bokashi" shading throughout print; nicely visible woodgrain seen in sky; highly detailed carving.
Condition Nearly Excellent.
Excellent colors. Very clean front and verso. (Trimmed at image edge; two tiny staple holes; slight toning--as removed from original 1936 calendar backing.)
Reference/Illus Hotei #317-A.
Prior to our June 2003 article, was an UN-documented Hasui print. (Incorrectly listed by Hotei as a "variant" of the common #317 Watanabe "summertime Kasuga" print.)
Comments Extremely rare. Perhaps the only Hasui image by Shimbi Shoin Publisher. Original "calendar state" was issued by Japanese Government Railways in 1935/36. (Learn more.). For the serious Hasui collector.
