Impression Very Fine. Superbly executed "bokashi" shading throughout print; nicely visible woodgrain seen in sky; highly detailed carving.
Condition Very Good. Strong colors. Clean front and verso. (Lower/center area of damage (residues, abrasion, staple hole) from calendar removal; pigment added; couple tiny spots; slight toning.) Trimmed at image edge (as removed from original calendar backing).

Prior to our June 2003 article, was an UN-documented Hasui print. (Incorrectly listed by Hotei as a "variant" of the common #317 Watanabe "summertime Kasuga" print.)
Comments Extremely rare. Perhaps the only Hasui image by Shimbi Shoin Publisher. From original calendar as issued by Japanese Government Railways in 1935/36. (Learn more.). For the serious Hasui collector.
