| Impression |
Very Fine. Skillfully executed "bokashi" shading throughout; light "gauffrage" to
reflection in water; nicely visible woodgrain in sky and foreground; crisply and highly
detailed carving. |
| Condition |
Good++ to Very Good. Strong colors. (Faint mat-line side edges; glue residues
verso corners; few surface scratches/wear; light toning.) |
| Reference/Illus |
Shotei.com website #M-108; Ota Folk Museum Catalogue #62; (not in 1936 Watanabe Catalogue). |
| Comments |
A rarely seen pre-Earthquake Shotei image. Blocks were destroyed in Tokyo's 1923 Great Kanto
Earthquake. (A very similar "chuban" design named
"Itako" (Ota #63) is also known.)
Bears old Nishikiye Sha Catalog sticker verso. |
