| Impression |
Very Fine. Skillfully executed "bokashi" shading throughout; strongly visible woodgrain
to grey background; light "gauffrage" to owl and moon; sharp key-lines, much fine detailing. |
| Condition |
Excellent. Excellent colors. Very clean front and verso. Full, original margins (note "kento marks" right edge,
bottom/right corner). (Slight wear; bumping upper/right corner; surface scratch--otherwise flawless.) |
| Reference/Illus |
"Crow, Cranes, and Camellias" pl# K-20.6 and cat# 81, pg 97. |
| Comments |
A wonderful Koson owl image. PRE-1923 earthquake (note: Daikoku-ya Publisher ceased
business in 1923). An original painting is known for this design. Rarely seen. |
