Very Fine. Skillfully executed "bokashi" shading; deep, heavy "gauffrage" to snow-covered
mountains; crisply detailed lines. (Faint blue smudge below bridge; two vertical areas of lighter
pigmentation to sky; 3 equal-spaced marks to each margin.) |
| Condition |
Excellent. Excellent colors. Very clean front and verso. Full original margins.
(A few scattered marks--otherwise flawless.) |
| Reference/Illus |
"The New Wave" pl# 141; Blair "1930 Toledo Exhibition" #167. |
| Comments |
Beautiful wintertime snowscene with deep "gauffage." A classic "shin hanga" image,
in unusually superb condition. Matsue was the bitterly cold wintertime home of Lafcadio Hearn
on Japan's northern coast. A VERY RARE print. |
