Image Size Three sheets, each 9 1/4 x 14 (overall image about 27 3/4 x 14).
Impression Very Fine. Skillfully done "bokashi" shading to kimono, clothing and cartouche; over-printed hair via "burnishing"; some light "gauffrage" (embossing); nicely visible woodgrain; and amazingly detailed carving of individual hairlines.
Condition Very Good. Excellent colors. Unbacked. Three tiny (1/16) holes; minor marks, soils and flaws.
Reference/Illus Similar images (and commentary) of same series in "Kiyochika--Artist of Meiji Japan," pg 98-99.
Comments Detailed printing. "Bijin-ga" prints by Kiyochika are not often encountered, as his "Flower Patterns" series were his only works of this genre.
