||"Monkey Reaching for the Moon" (given name)
||Obtained directly from Robert O. Muller's Collection following his death (via New York contact).
||Daikoku-ya (Tokyo publisher, 1818-1923)
||7 1/4 x 13 5/8 ("tanzaku")
||Very Fine. Superbly executed "bokashi" shading throughout; nicely visible woodgrain entire background; the
reflected moon's edge raised in "gauffrage"; sharp key-lines, much fine detailing.
||Excellent. Excellent colors. Clean front and backside. Full, original margins (note "kento marks" right edge,
bottom right). (No flaws noted.)
||"Crow, Cranes, and Camellias" pl# K-41.25 and cat# 136, pg 139.
||An absolutely charming and delightful Koson image. PRE-1923 earthquake (note: Daikoku-ya Publisher ceased
business in 1923).
