||"Monkey in a Persimmon Tree"
("Kaki ni Saru") (given name)
||1935 (Undated, but published in 1935 per Blair--old.)
||Obtained directly from Robert O. Muller's Collection following his death
(via Conneticut contact).
||No marginal data (Blair).
||9 3/8 x 10 5/8 ("shikishiban")
||Very Fine. Superbly executed "bokashi" shading to monkey's face and fruits; light "gauffrage" to monkey and
persimmon; visible "woodgrain" to tree trunk; crisp lines, highly detailed.
||Excellent. Wonderful colors. Full, original margins. Tiny stamped "Made in Japan" verso margin.
(No flaws noted.)
||Blair's 1936 "Toledo Exhibition" pl. #209; "Crow, Cranes, and Camellias" #S41.5.
||Delightful image of a little monkey reaching for a persimmon fruit--and an unseen wasp's nest.
Seldom encountered, flawless.
