||"Board of Tourist Industy -- Japanese Government Railways" Print
||Shimbi Shoin Publisher (Tokyo, 1905-35)
||Unusual small red
oval "Ha-sui" seal.
||9 x 13 5/8
||Very Fine. Superbly executed "bokashi" shading throughout print; nicely visible woodgrain seen in sky;
highly detailed carving.
||Very Good. Strong colors. Clean front. (Lower/center area of damage (residues, abrasion, staple holes)
from calendar removal; slight toning.) Trimmed and laid onto rigid calendar backing (original state).
Prior to our June 2003 article, was an UN-documented Hasui print. (Incorrectly listed by
Hotei as a "variant" of the common #317 Watanabe "summertime Kasuga" print.)
||Extremely rare. Perhaps the only Hasui image by Shimbi Shoin Publisher. In original "calendar state"
as issued by Japanese Government Railways in 1935/36.
